Start with a favourite T-shirt
- Lay a comfortable T-shirt on a flat surface and smooth it without stretching.
- B · Width: measure straight across from the seam under one sleeve to the seam under the other. This is the shirt’s width, not a measurement around the body.
- A · Length: measure from the highest shoulder beside the collar down to the bottom hem.
- Enter those two measurements below. Compare both dimensions; a similar width does not always mean a similar length.

What changes between the five sizes?
Each step from S to M, M to L, L to XL, or XL to 2XL, adds 2 inches (5.08 cm) of flat width and 1 inch (2.54 cm) of length in the supplier chart. Those differences are more useful than assuming that a size letter fits the same way across every brand.
If your comparison shirt falls between two rows, look at the width and length differences separately. Think about whether that reference shirt already has the amount of room and length you want. The tool does not choose a size for you.
Choosing it as a gift
If you can measure a T-shirt they wear comfortably, you have a better starting point than guessing from a label. If you cannot check measurements, a separate bird lover mug avoids the clothing-size decision.

Which shirt does this chart describe?
Our black unisex Birdwatching T-shirt, printed to order on Gildan Softstyle 64000. The listing offers S, M, L, XL and 2XL. Solid black is 100% ring-spun cotton, 4.5 oz/yd² (153 g/m²), with a regular fit, crew neck and short sleeves. This chart does not describe our sweatshirts, hoodies, women’s tanks or youth tees.
Is width the same as chest circumference?
No. Width here is the distance across a shirt laid flat, from one underarm seam to the other. Do not enter a tape measurement taken around someone’s body.
Can I exchange it if the size does not suit?
The current listing says discretionary returns and size or colour exchanges are not offered because each shirt is printed to order.
